Candle Ceremony within a Marriage Ceremony

When I have used three candles in a wedding ceremony, I get the bride and groom to each light a candle somewhere near the beginning of the ceremony, but after the introduction and possibly the first reading, saying that ‘”Jenny and Peter are now going to each light a candle to symbolise their individual lives, and all of their unique life’s experiences that have brought them to this special day in their lives”……. 

Then after they have exchanged rings, I ask them to light together, from their two individual candles the central candle, as a symbol that their lives are now joined together in a life of sharing and oneness.
